Renaissance choral music by Byrd, Dufay, Sheppard, Schütz, Lassus, Lobo, Gombert and Josquin. This fascinating programme explores the responses of great composers faced with the realisation of their own mortality (and that of their patrons and friends) and in anticipation of the divine afterlife.

This is just to say that my friend Eleanor and I thought the concert on Sunday was absolutely superb. We felt afterwards that it is rare to hear a concert in which there was not a single weak moment, either in the music itself or in the performance -- and I think from the applause at the end that all the audience shared our opinion.
