Cambridge Early Music Concerts 2011

LONDON AND PARIS: THE SPELL OF THE METROPOLES

Ensemble Amaranthos

3.00pm, Saturday 1 October, 2011

This exciting and dynamic period ensemble uses the rare instrumental combination of flute, violin, viola da gamba, cello and harpsichord to offer a rich spectrum of tone colours. Their concert reflects the very different characters of two flourishing cities that attracted foreign composers in the late 17th and early 18th centuries. The programme includes music by Telemann, Geminiani, Marais, Rebel and of course Handel.
Tea and cake will be served during the interval.
'Ensemble Amaranthos combines an extraordinary musical and technical proficiency with an admirable professional presentation. ...For my money, ...one of the finest young groups around.' (Early Music Review)
